i kick azz at poker and know id be taking home a nice profit everyday if i played at a casino ( been playing for while now but never at a casino)

so what exactly do you do when you take a trip to atlantic city or any casino when you wanna play poker

each step like

1. where do you buy the chips.. at the table or cashier?

2. where are the poker tournements at in the casinos.. im thinking they have theyre own section but are they usually out on the floor or in the back somewhere?

3. how do you buy in.. do you just sit down at any availible seat? or do you have to register somehwere

4. what kind of tourneys can you play sit n gos? or ring tables?

5. and during the game how do you know how much stack your opponents have .. do you ask em during the game?.. seem like it be hard to tell if they have a large chip count

6. and anything else id need to know when i go to play poker at a casino for the first time

1. where do you buy the chips.. at the table or cashier?

The Cage/cashiers window or at the table in cash ring games.

2. where are the poker tournements at in the casinos.. im thinking they have theyre own section but are they usually out on the floor or in the back somewhere?

Most casinos have poker rooms now. You will have to register for tournaments at the cashiers window or at a special window/area set up for that tournament.

3. how do you buy in.. do you just sit down at any availible seat? or do you have to register somehwere. There is usually a table where there is a waiting list of people waiting to get into the different available games. Sign up and wait if there are no openings

4. what kind of tourneys can you play sit n gos? or ring tables? Go to the casino web site for info on whether they have daily tounaments, SNG games etc

5. and during the game how do you know how much stack your opponents have .. do you ask em during the game?.. seem like it be hard to tell if they have a large chip count

If you want to go all-in you can ask your opponent apprximately how much they have or ask for a chip count.. Most casinos hae a rule that in no limit games players must keep their large denominaton chips up front so that others can guesstimate their chip counts

6. and anything else id need to know when i go to play poker at a casino for the first time

It sounds like you need to read up a little more before you go. Playing online is a lot different then live games. Good luck to you!

When you go into a casino you go to the poker room.
1.) Register at the desk for the type of game you would like to play. There will be several types (draw, texas hold em, omaha, etc.) with different limits.
2.) If seats are available at the type and limit you request, you will be seated immediately, if not you are put on a list for the next available seat to open or if they start a new table.
3.) you buy in at the table, (unless you are in a tournament) and you must remember at most casinos they will not let you buy more chips during a hand.
4.) what you can bet and and how much is based on the game and the dealer will let you know.
    Now for tournament:
1.) Still go to the poker room
2.) Tournament are not run all the time or everyday they will be advertised so you may have to find a casino that is having one.
3.) You buy in at the cage in the poker room for whatever the advertised price is ( this could be as little as $100) and you will be given a ticket.
4.) when the tournament is ready to start they will set up tables at random and the rules will be told to everyone.
5.) everyone starts with the same amount of chips and begins play which each table reducing to one player.
6.) these players then meet in the finals at one table, in the rules they will tell you when you can ask for a chip count.

Casinos are a little different then home games and online. There are more skilled people playing in the ring games and tournaments( Usually the higher priced tournaments). I have answers to your questions below.

    1. where do you buy the chips.. at the table or cashier?

Once you get to the Poker room, there is area that you can go to, to talk with someone about getting to table and getting chips. Depending on the casino, but most of the time you get it at the table.

    2. where are the poker tournements at in the casinos.. im thinking they have theyre own section but are they usually out on the floor or in the back somewhere?

First find the poker room in which ever casino you are on and talk with whoever is manning the desk at the time, they will help you.

    3. how do you buy in.. do you just sit down at any availible seat? or do you have to register somehwere

Again find who ever is at the desk in the poker room and they will get you a seat if your looking to play in cash games.

    4. what kind of tourneys can you play sit n gos? or ring tables?

It depends on the casino. All Casinos have Ring games, sit and go’s are not as frequent. Multi-table tournaments have scheduled times and happen through out most of the day.

    5. and during the game how do you know how much stack your opponents have .. do you ask em during the game?.. seem like it be hard to tell if they have a large chip count

Don’t ask unless your putting them all in. If they have a larger stack then you, don’t worry about it. They got you covered if you go all in.

    6. and anything else id need to know when i go to play poker at a casino for the first time

Don’t take more money then you can afford to lose.
