Poker has always been a popular game in many homes and casinos across the UK, yet it’s just experiencing is huge popularity now. While online gambling is being stifled in the USA, online poker as is a growing by leaps and bounds in the UK. This is great news for poker enthusiasts because this means they’ll be able to gamble online without having to worry about legal troubles or online security.
One reason poker has grown so much in the UK is because of the recent introduction of the US style No Limit Texas Holdem. This kind of poker has proven to be very exciting and extremely addictive. One reason poker has grown so much online is because of the game Texas Holdem.
UK online poker rooms aren’t hard to find if you’re in the UK and you want to play a hand or two. Most online poker rooms even offer incentives for new players to come and gamble with them. These incentives include kick backs, free bets & chips, and other things of that nature to try to get you to play with their casino. You can take advantage of these kinds of offers and play with the scales tipped in your favor.
If you love competition, try your hand at a poker tournament. Not only are the potential This is a great way to gauge how good of a poker player you are – you’ll be able to try your hand against all kinds of players in a battle to the top for the jackpot.
If you’re new to the game of poker, it would be a good idea to read up on the games tactics and strategies so you know what you’re doing before you bet any real money. I would also recommend practicing in the free poker rooms, which don’t require bets with real money. This will give you the practice so that you’ll be able to be on your way winning real hands for real money.

What are your opinions on the whole rise in popularity of online poker?
Not online gambling as a whole as everybody loses playing the wheel, the slots or bingo.
Just the poker.
You have to first realise the cards are chosen at rad om by computer, different to Casino where dealer deals, with up to three packs of cards say…Seen four aces come up on line in one hand followed by another two,ok could have happened if dealt by dealer but any card counting or assessing chance of card coming up,is not possible..Also think games like Texas Hold em High ,designed for maximum spending in quick a time as possible…

People should be allowed to play poker online for money if they want to. It has been a fantastic means of growing the game and getting more people interested in playing poker, either recreationally or professionally. Online poker is not rigged and never will be. Those who believe that just suck at poker and should find some other hobby to occupy themselves with.

There are thousands of poker players out there and many do not have easy access to a casino. Online poker is a viable alternative for them.
The US Governments recent attempt to restrict online gaming is ridiculous. They are tying to tell me that I can’t play a skilled game like poker but it’s ok to spend my money online on horse racing or lotteries. It’s crazy!
Don’t even get me started about the violations with the World Trade Organization. The US is wrong, everyone knows it.
Bottom line is, that the boom is probably over, but many people are now avid players thanks to online poker. It is definitley here to stay.

I think it’s great, and it’s very sad that America (specifically the Bush administration) is taking the backwards outlook of trying to ban it rather than regulate and tax it.
If America is a free country then citizens should be allowed to play poker online, and American companies should be free to offer poker games to the people. Poker is an American tradition. How pathetic that we invent a wonderful game, export it around the world, and the government tries to stop us playing it, while all the time telling us that ‘they’ hate us for our freedom.

It’s great of course, even with the "new law" poker is and still really popular, and online poker is one of the reason for it. I play online between 20 to 70 hrs a week, and I enjoy having the choice, and decide if today I want to play at the casino or online. Online poker is here for good, and that’s a good feeling.

It has risen in popularity over the past few years, due to the skill element required, compared to most other gambling games.
However I do think, it is now starting to decline, as for alot of people it was just a fad.
